Data Deletion - Flourwise
Last updated: April 21, 2026
Version: 2.0
Your Right to Data Deletion
Under Article 17 GDPR ("Right to be Forgotten"), you have the right to request deletion of your personal data. Below you'll find a practical guide for deleting every category of data processed by Flourwise — both locally and on Google's side.
✅ Good News!
Your core content — recipes, bakes, photos, notes, starters, schedule — is stored exclusively locally on your device and you can delete it yourself, without contacting us.
Starting with version 2.0, the app also offers three optional data transfers to Google (AI Import, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics) and uses the system-level Android Auto Backup. Deleting those is described under "Data processed on Google's side".
1. What data does the Flourwise app store?
1.1 Local data (only on your device)
- ✅ Recipes and ingredients
- ✅ Recipe and bake photos
- ✅ Baking journal, notes, sessions
- ✅ Starters and feeding history
- ✅ Task schedule and timers
- ✅ App settings (theme, language, preferences)
Important: this data is not sent to us or to external servers — it stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
1.2 Data processed on Google's side (optional, version 2.0 onward)
- AI Import (Google Gemini API) — when you use the "Import with AI" feature, the URL / photo / text you choose is sent to Google LLC (USA). Photos are sent to Google after EXIF metadata stripping (location, device model). Google may retain the content for a short period for abuse-detection purposes. The data is not used to train models (paid tier of the Gemini API).
- Firebase Analytics (opt-in) — anonymous Firebase Installation ID + usage event metadata. Retention: 2 months.
- Firebase Crashlytics (opt-in) — crash stack traces + anonymous device info. Retention: up to 90 days.
- Android Auto Backup — a system backup of the app to your personal Google Drive account. This is not our backup — it's managed by the Android system. Only your Google account can access it.
Details (purpose, legal basis, scope, transfer to the USA) are described in our Privacy Policy, sections 4, 4a, and 4b.
2. How to delete local data?
Uninstalling Flourwise from your device automatically deletes all local data (recipes, bakes, photos, starters, settings).
1. Open Flourwise
2. Settings → Data and privacy
3. Select Clear all data
The app wipes the database, photos, preferences, and resets all consents. It also calls FirebaseInstallations.delete(), which deletes your anonymous installation identifier on Google's side (right to be forgotten — GDPR Art. 17, for data that had previously reached Firebase if consent was granted).
1. Android Settings → Apps
2. Find Flourwise
3. Storage → Clear data
- Recipe: open → menu (⋮) → Delete
- Bake: open → menu → Delete
- Starter: Schedule → Starter list → Delete
- Photos: open the recipe or bake → gallery → delete individual photo
3. How to delete or limit data on Google's side?
3.1 Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics
1. Settings → Privacy
2. Turn off the "Anonymous usage analytics" and/or "Crash reports" toggle
The Firebase SDK stops sending data immediately.
Use "Clear all data" in the app settings (Option B above) — the app deletes all preferences locally and calls FirebaseInstallations.delete(), which removes your anonymous Installation ID from Google.
Note on retention: Analytics events and crashes that reached Google before you withdrew consent are removed according to Firebase's retention policy (Analytics: up to 2 months, Crashlytics: up to 90 days) — after that period they disappear automatically.
3.2 AI Import data (Google Gemini API)
Content you send through the "Import with AI" feature (URL, photo after EXIF stripping, text) reaches Google only for the duration of processing the request. Google may retain the inputs for a short period for abuse-detection purposes, after which they are deleted (as described in the Gemini API Additional Terms). We do not maintain a user account on Google's side — there is therefore no "database" of your imports we could delete on request. If you want to stop all future imports — simply don't use the feature.
3.3 Android Auto Backup (your personal Google Drive)
1. Open the Google Drive app → menu → Backups
2. Find "Flourwise"
3. Open details → Delete backup
Or: drive.google.com/drive/backups → select the device → delete app data.
Android Settings → Google → Backup → turn off for Flourwise, or globally: Settings → System → Backup.
3.4 Premium Subscription (Google Play Billing)
Purchase and subscription history is stored by Google LLC in accordance with their policy and tax-law requirements. You can manage it here: play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Flourwise does not keep its own copy of this data.

5. Do I need to email support@flourwise.com?
In most cases, no. You delete local data yourself from your device; you turn off Firebase in the app settings; you delete your Google Drive backup directly in Google Drive.
Email us at support@flourwise.com if you:
- need a written confirmation of deletion (GDPR Art. 12(3));
- cannot use the automated paths above (e.g. you've lost access to the device);
- are a blog owner and want your domain excluded from the "Import with AI" feature (see Privacy Policy, section 4.13);
- want to appeal how a GDPR request was handled.
We respond within the timeframe required by GDPR — at most 30 days, typically within 48 hours.
